Read the Neurokinetics Case Study (.doc), which describes some of the issues and challenges that many researchers face as they take initial steps towards commercialization. Discuss the section “The Researchers Dilemma” (page 15) and respond to the following question as a group:

Is there some way to continue his research as well as commercialize the Glove? What would you suggest?

Assignment

1. Develop a draft organizational structure for your company. Be prepared to respond to the following questions:

   • Will the corporate structure be vertical or horizontal? What will the roles and responsibilities (i.e. position) be?

   • Provide an outline of the policies and procedure governing how employees do their jobs (i.e. human resource policy, purchasing policy). Don't forget to consider what boards you will appoint, if required.

   • Refer to Team and Personnel module around the types of positions and boards that may help your company.

   • How will decision-making be determined?
